Mitral Valve Repair Procedure

TEER (MitraClip) Procedure

A new procedure is now available in the UK to treat severe secondary to degenerative MVD in Cavaliers and other breeds. The procedure is known as TEER (Transcatheter edge-to-edge mitral valve repair, also ‘MitraClip’) in the USA and involves a fitting a device under general anaesthetic. It is minimally invasive and dogs that undergo the surgery are typically able to walk outside the day after the procedure.

This new procedure follows good results from 80,000 procedures on human patients with the same condition.
